The Punic wars were three separate wars fought between Rome and Carthage.
The Punic war: Was fought between Rome and Carthage from 264 BC to 146 BC. The war was over Sicily, both of the countries wanted it, the war was started when Rome interfered with Carthaginian affairs in Sicily. The war ended when Rome controlled Sicily and defeated Carthage.
Second Punic War: The second Punic War was from 218 BC to 201 BC. The war started when the Carthaginians attacked Saguntum in Spain provoking the second Punic war. The Carthaginian leader Hannibal hated the Romans. His father wanted revenge on
Rome so he raises his son Hannibal to hate Romans.
Third Punic War: At the end of the Second Punic War the Carthaginians recovered and attacked Numidia which was a strong supporter of Rome, breaking the treaty the ended the second war. Rome declared war on Carthage in 149 BC. Carthage will withstand a siege by Rome for three years, until they gave up. Hannibal did not want to be a prisoner so he committed suicide. The Romans won the war and destroyed the land that Carthage was so that they could never rebuild there.
